Hello Father, I’m a young man and I often fall into the sin of lust and porn, but recently as I have been focusing on my prayer life, my ability to control myself has gotten much better. I still watch porn sometimes, but I’m able to control myself and resist the urge to actually masturbate. I want to know if this is a mortal sin because I sinned in my heart and chose to watch porn but I resisted and didn’t actually do the act. Please help me Father.
Fr. Ching, Hope you are well. This is the first time I email you. I am bothered by this Japanese Ryo Tatsuki’s predictions of the massive earthquake in 2025. I know we shouldn’t believe in it, and shouldn’t even read it, but people are talking about it and hard to avoid. I could only ask people to keep praying to God, but i feel that i am promoting it when I ask people to pray about this “predictions”. I have this conflicts in me. What should I do? And why would God allow this kind of disaster happen in the world….. Thank you for your time in advance.
Why are women not permitted to become priests in the Catholic church? As well, why are priests not allowed to marry?
If Jesus’ crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension are parts of God’s Salvation Plan, Judas’ betrayal would be necessary for God’s Plan. Is it correct?
Is it ok to display an icon of Eastern Orthodox Saints after the 1054 schism? A orthodox nun sent me an icon of Sts Raphael, Nicholas and Irene and I worried that the Catholic church doesn’t recognise them.
Is it against the teachings to avoid people who are a vexation to the spirit? For example, avoiding those who gossip, impose their will on others, or take advantage of others.
There have been a lot of child abuse cases and sex scandals within the church among high ranking bishops/cardinals – how can this be if these bishops and cardinals are supposed to be the people closest to god, who are supposed to be gods representatives and chosen by God. I’ve heard so many people leaving the church because of this problem. What should we, as a Catholic say when facing this question?
If a person passed away suddenly leaving his/her family on earth, would the departed miss the family if he/she is in heaven? If the departed knows his/her family member(s) will head towards spiritual death, would he/she be sad and concerned in heaven? If yes, is there any sadness in heaven?
Sorry if this question has been asked before in Mandarin. I am afraid I am going back to basics. Do you need to bless yourself in Holy Water before entering a church? A friend mentioned that her family no longer touches the Holy Water since COVID. Is there a specific prayer to be said when blessing oneself with Holy Water or can you say what you want? Thank you.
Hi Father Ching, the human race lost original justice when Adam and Eve committed the first sin, resulting in the inheritance of original sin which divided our mind, heart and flesh. I always wonder why the death and resurrection of Christ, God himself, did not restore humans to the state of original justice i.e. fixing our division of mind, heart and flesh?
I would like to clarify for the gift of obtaining two plenary indulgences in 1 day during Jubilee Year: 1. Is the second indulgence limited to Jubilee Year works of mercy (e.g., a pilgrimage to Rome), or can it be fulfilled by any other work of mercy? 2. Must Holy Communion be received on the same day and if one Holy Communion suffices for one plenary indulgence only, meaning two plenary indulgences require two Holy Communions, and thus the faithful might need to attend two Masses in 1 day?
Is it that God himself came down to earth as Jesus in Human flesh or Jesus is another being entirely and Is it that God manifested in 3 form or they are 3 different God in 1.
A priest said having a lot of faith means doing a lot of volunteer work and give money to the church. I always thought faith is about living up the Word and allow the Word to lead our conscience, conduct, and to shape us as a person. But this priest said having faith got nothing to do with it.
It seems mercy and justice are contradictory. How will God manifest both, or is one preferred over the other?
Why do Catholics pray to Mary and the saints when in the Ten Commandments it says, “Thou shall have no other gods before me”? Isn’t praying to them idolatry? And same thing with the craved images of Mary and the saints, “Thou shall not make unto thee graven images”
The Bible is inspired by God and written by human authors. The question is how do we explain to people who question the validity that the human author did not err with the inspiration?
